R. David Purdon, 80, of Carbondale died Saturday morning at Marian Community Hospital. Carbondale. His wife is the former Mariam E. Moyle.
Born in Meadville, PA; he was the son of the late Benjamin D. & Lillian A. Wrigley Prudon. He retired as an inspector for Sirkorsky Aviation, Connecticut. Mr. Purdon was a graduate of Eastern Bible Institute, Green Lane, Pa in 1946. He is a member of the Peckville Assembly of God.
Also surviving are four sons: Robert D., Ocala, FL; Kevin, Bedford, TX; Howard, Croydon, Pa; David, Jessup and two daughters: Lynda Purdon, Levittown; Karyn Leacher, Bensalem, PA, a sister: Joyce Blanchard, Alto, NM; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Peckville Assembly of God Church, Keystone Ave, by the Rev. Terry Drost. Interment in Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8 Pm at the Oliver R Shifler Funeral Home, Inc 94 N Main St, Carbondale and Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund, Peckville Assembly of God Church. |

James A. McIvers, 70, of Jermyn RD died Tuesday at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. His wife is the former Jean Marion, the couple
had celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in October.
Born in Kearney, NJ; he was the son of the late Arthur & Mildred Maher McIvers. He was a graduate of St. Cecelia School, Kearney;
Newark College of Engineering and attended additional classes at
Penn State University and Temple University.
Jim had been employed through the years by Worthing Corp., Harrison, NJ; Scottie Electronics, Archbald and Gentex Corp., Simpson where
he retired in august of 2007. He also taught classes in engineering and drafting for I.C.S., Scranton. He had been a member of the New Jersey Army National Guard.
He attended Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Jermyn. He was a former president of the Sacred Heart School P.T.A.; he was an advisor for Junior Achievement, Carbondale. He enjoyed golf, ham radio operations
and radio control racing with his grandchildren.
He is also survived by two daughters and their husbands: Patty & Jim
Perri, Carbondale; Debbie & Bob Rude, Jermyn; a son in law Robert Mikulak, Mayfield; eight grandchildren: Jamie, R.J. and Jared Rude;
Jimmy Joe and his wife Dana Perri; Kylah and Tara Perri; Robert & Molly Mikulak; three great grandchildren: Madison, Emma and Parker,
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Kathy Mikulak and a brother:
Arthur.
The funeral will be Friday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc. 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass at 9:30AM in sacred Heart of Mary Church, Madison Ave., Jermyn to be celebrated by the Rev. John C. O'Bell. Interment in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
