Edmund C. ” Mr. Fix It”  Conlin, 78, of Carbondale died Wednesday at Allied Services Skilled Facility, Scranton. His wife, the former Judith Moran died in 2013.

Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Alphonsus and Elsie Dixon Conlin. Ed was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale.  He had Polio at the age of 9 and from that Ed set out to meet every challenge that people told him he would never be able to do.   He started working construction and driving a truck and then went on to own and operate the Fixit Shoppe in Carbondale for the past 40 years.  During this same period Ed learned to fly and owned his own airplane.

Ed is survived by his children, Edith and husband Thomas Christopher, Chapman Lake, Lorelei and husband Paul Johnson, Carbondale and Robert Irish, Rockford, IL., grandchildren, Jessica Watkins, T.J. Christopher, Joseph and wife Rebekah Johnson, Curtis Johnson and Katherine Johnson, great grandchildren, Lily, Grace, Posie and Gabriella.  Ed was preceded in death by a daughter Gail Marie Connolly. Her children, Tracey, Paul, Harold, Starlight and their families also survive.

Edmund’s two brothers, David and Maurice preceded him in death.

A Blessing Service will be conducted on Wednesday at 6:00 Pm in the Oliver Shifler & Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc. 62 N. Main St., Carbondale. Friends may visit from 5 to 6 pm.
