Marjorie O. Schofield, 79, of Carbondale died Tuesday at her home at Elk Lake. She was the widow of Gerald Flood in 1966 and James Schofield in 1999.

Born in Carbondale she was the daughter of the late Fred and Dorothy Lambert Olver. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and the Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing.  Marge was a registered nurse caring for patients throughout her career at St. Joseph’s and later Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale.

Marge was a faithful and active at Trinity Episcopal Church, Carbondale where she was involved with many of the fund raisers and activities. She was also a member of the Small Town Red Hat Ladies, Carbondale YMCA and the Card Club.

Marge enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. One of her last trips involved visiting her sister and seeing the Pacific Ocean. She especially loved her grandchildren and being at the lake or the ocean with them.  Marge could often be seen supporting them at their sporting activities or dance recitals.

She is survived by six children and their spouses, Jean Anne and Vernon Hartzell, King of Prussia, Kerry Schofield and Carol, Lebanon, Judy and Charles Platt, Glenmore, Gary Flood and Kate, Honesdale, John Schofield and Nicki, Lititz, Frederick Schofield and Marlene, Clarks Summit, a daughter in law, Tara Flood, Murfresboro, TN, a sister, Barbara and Doug Green, San Clementi, CA, 15 grandchildren, Christopher, Brian, Kenny, Kevin, Jordan, Megan, Rachel, Eric, Elise, Lauren, Carly, Ella, Cullen, Emma and Sarah, two great grandchildren, Evan and Eli.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Thomas Flood and a sister, Jean Kase.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 12 Noon in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 58 River St., Carbondale by the Father Bill McGinty, Rector. Interment will follow in Canaan Coroners Cemetery, Waymart. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM until service time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church.
