Nancy J. Marchuck, 88, of Simpson died Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the wife of Joseph Marchuck. The couple had celebrated their 65th  wedding anniversary in October.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late John & Minnie Hobbs Atkinson. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and the Carbondale Beauty Academy. She owned and operated the Nancy Marchuck Beauty Shop in Simpson.

She was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Greek Catholic Church, Simpson and the St. Ann’s Sodality. Nancy was very civic minded and was a member of Grattan Singer Hose Co., Keystone Fire Chief’s Auxiliary, Northeastern Pennsylvania Volunteer Firemen’s Federation, Penguin Club, Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post # 4712, Simpson and a member of the former Fell Township Golden Age Club.  Nancy also served as a Fell Township Auditor.  In addition to spending time with her family she enjoyed crocheting and making Pysanky eggs.

Nancy is also survived by a daughter, Joelyn Mark, Simpson, a son, John Marchuck and wife Dianne, Lebanon, four grandchildren, Nancy Gillott and husband Mike, Michael Mark, John J. Marchuck and Mary Ross and husband Justin, two great grandchildren, Vincent and Autumn, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Gertrude Sweeney, Betty Iwanik and Ruth Davis.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc ., 621 Main St., Simpson with Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM in S.S. Peter & Paul Greek Catholic Church, 47 Rittenhouse St., Simpson to be celebrated by the Rev. Myron Myronyuk, Pastor. Interment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.  Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 PM.
