Tom A.” Pookus” Decknick, 66, of Safety Harbor, FL and formerly of Simpson died peacefully Saturday after a brief illness.

Born in Carbondale and raised in Simpson, he was the son of the late John & Sophie Tomcikowski Decknick. He was a graduate of Fell High School, class of 1968. Tom had been employed by Holt Lumber Co. and Hendrick Manufacturing prior to retirement.

Tom was full of life and was loved by anyone who knew him. He had a way of making anyone smile. Tom enjoyed talking to and spending time with his girls and grandson, vacationing in Mexico, making photo albums for his grandson Kaiden, taking his sister Joan to the beach to see the dolphins, spending time with his new friends in Florida and having long talks with his brother and best friends back home.

He is survived by his three daughters, Taylor Decknick, Richmondale, Angelina and husband Robert Curtis, Carbondale, Catherine Tochelli and fiancée Wayne Skotch, Carbondale, a grandson, who was the light of his life, Kaiden Avery, a sister, Joan Palimero, Safety Harbor, FL with whom he resided, a brother, Jerome Decknick, Merced, CA,  his former wife and friend Michelle Reilly, Richmondale, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Judge Decknick, two brothers, John & Raymond and a sister, Marion Borgacci.

There will be a viewing on Friday from 5 to 8 pm at the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: American Heart Association, 613 Baltimore Dr., Wilkes- Barre, PA 18702
