Thomas W. Paciga, 84, of Simpson died Tuesday at the Forest City Nursing Center. His wife is the former Veronica Lisowski. The couple had been married for 62 years.

Born in Simpson, he was the son of the late Thomas & Regina Pavlica Paciga. Tom was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson and received his bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg College. He was employed as a teacher and coach in the Delaware Valley Central School District for 30 years. Tom also was the driving education instructor.

Tom was a member of St. Michael’s Church, St. Rose Parish, The Holy Name Society,The Knights of Columbus, Council # 4478, Callicoon, NY ,where he was a past Grand Knight and the Fell Township Golden Age Club. Tom was a track, volley ball, and basket coach and also served as a basketball and track official. He was a member of the New York Teachers Association. Tom organized the yearly punt, pass and kick events in Callicoon. After retirement he was the organizer of many trips throughout the U.S. and for the past 28 years he enjoyed spending winters at his home in Punta Gorda, FL.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Forest City Nursing Home for their care.

He is also survived by three sons, Thomas J. and wife Susan , Salidsburg, MD, Michael and wife Madeline, Jeffersonville, NY, Joseph and wife Jeannette, Suffolk, VA, a daughter JoAnn and Charles Bechle, New Windsor, NY, nine grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Walter and Joseph and four sisters, Agnes Stasiek, Rose Paciga, Jean Rupp and Martha Epps.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc, 621 Main St, Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Forest City. Friends may call Friday  4 to 8 PM.
