Veronica D. Valinski, 92, of Simpson died Monday night at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was the widow of Raymond Valinski, who died in 1985.

Born in Simpson, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Kathryn Tarhanich Propeack. She was educated in Fell Township Schools and had been employed by the Gentex Corp., Simpson.

Vernie was a member of St. Michael’s Church, St. Rose Parish; the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Simpson and was a member of the former Confraternity of Christian Women Society and Fell Township Golden Age Club. Vernie was an active member and cook at the former Holy Trinity Church and hall, Simpson.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate and caring help.

Veronica is survived by her five children, John, Simpson, Romaine and husband Dennis Markel, Houston, TX, Sandra Grandinetti, Honesdale, Gail Srabnoski, Clarks Summit, Lori and husband Christopher Mattise, Archbald, eight grandchildren, Christian and Ian Markel, Mary Beth Grandinetti, Timothy Orue, Alese Srabnoski, Kaitlin, Justin and Ella Mattise, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Stephen, Joseph, Michael and Francis Propeack and sisters, Mary Dubill and Ann Seigle.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 Am in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery,  Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 Pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 Williams St., Dunmore, PA 18512.
