Alberta B. Regal (Berty), 88, of Simpson died Sunday at Geisinger-Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was the widow of Francis Regal, who died in 1968.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Bridget Dumback Venosh. In addition to raising her family, she was employed in the local garment industry. She was a member of St. Michael’s Church-St Rose Parish, Carbondale.

Berty was known for her strength, generosity, and hard work ethic. An amazing cook and baker, no one ever left her house hungry. She enjoyed sewing, trips to the casino, and was an avid Phillies fan. Young at heart, she loved polka dancing and could always be found in a pair of high heels. Above all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

She is survived by her four children, Sharon Wilcha, Carbondale, Patricia and husband John Delfino, Greenfield Township, Brenda and husband Paul Cominsky, Collegeville, Frank Regal and wife Melissa, Richmondale, eight grandchildren, Michael Jr and Brittany Wilcha, John Delfino Jr and wife Cheryl, and Cody Delfino, Amanda and Alyssa Cominsky, Frank Regal Jr and Olivia Regal, a great-granddaughter, Grace Delfino, and several nieces and nephews.

Berty was preceded in death by five brothers and ten sisters, her son-in-law, Mike Wilcha, and her companion for many years, Philip Wilczynski.

The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Masks and social distancing rules will be followed. Interment at a later date will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Simpson.

Arrangements are by the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson. For condolences visit: www.scotchlasfuneralhome.com
