Alice Gilroy Vitovsky, 65, of Waymart died Wednesday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville surrounded by her family.  She is the wife of John M. Vitovsky, the couple had been married 40 years.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Edna Murphy Gilroy. Alice was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.  She has been employed most of her career by Mogerman Orthopedics, Waymart.

Alice’s whole life was dedicated to her family. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Nurses and Physicians at Geisinger Danville for their compassionate care.

Alice is survived by her three sons, John Michael Vitovsky and wife April, Evans City, Matthew and Mitchell Vitovsky both of Pittsburgh, two sisters, Susan Williams and husband Kenny, Waymart, Ann Burnett and husband John, Colorado Springs, CO., and a brother, Frank Gilroy, Clifford, and a granddaughter, Declyn, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Maureen Greene-Conigliaro and a brother, Michael Gilroy.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson with mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church Street, Carbondale. Entombment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows, Greenfield Township.

Family and friends may visit on Tuesday from 8:00 Am-9:30 Am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 2626 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
