Scotchlas, 62, of Stroudsburg died Friday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono after an illness. Born in Carbondale, he is the son of Leona Perkowski Scotchlas, Stroudsburg and the late Joseph C. Scotchlas. Andy was a 1981 graduate of Stroudsburg High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from East Stroudsburg State College. Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as a bank examiner. Andy was a caregiver to his mom for many years and was known for his big heart and he eagerly helped others. He enjoyed visiting casinos and watching horse racing. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his six siblings and their spouses; Joseph and Jennifer, Thomas, and Susan Gallagher all of E. Stroudsburg, Joanne Scotchlas, Nazareth, Eugene and Diane, Easton, Michael, Effort, twelve nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a large extended family. A Blessing Service will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 11:00 AM in the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc. 621 Main St., Simpson. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Simpson. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
