Barbara Seward, age 83, was born on December 20, 1942, and passed away peacefully on January 7th at Carbondale Nursing & Rehab.

Barbara was a woman who found joy in caring for others. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for many years, a place where friendships were formed and laughter was shared. Later, she worked for Bard Parker, where her strong work ethic and kind spirit were well known.

Her heart was always with her community. Barbara loved helping her church, and giving her time to support the American Legion /  VFW as President. She never hesitated to lend a hand where it was needed, and she did so with warmth, generosity, and quiet strength.

Barbara is survived by her children: Tim Backus and his wife Denise; Jerry Backus: Monica Wagner and her husband David; and Casandra Wyckoff. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Nathan Richardson, Aleya Backus, and Tracy Loendorf. Also survived by her sisters and brothers, Charles Gifford and his wife Trudy; Edward Gifford and his wife Anna; Julie Lia And her husband Yuk Nam Lia.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Carbondale Nursing & Rehab, with a special thank you to Mary and Big Momma. She loved you dearly and appreciated all you did for her.

Those who knew Barbara will remember her for her caring nature, her dedication to family and community, and the way she made people feel welcome and valued. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she shared so freely.

A Private graveside service will be conducted. Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., Simpson, PA.
