Bruce W. Gardner, 69 of Greenfield Township died Monday at the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale.  His wife is the former, Rose Urda.

Born in Carbondale, he is the son of the late Maurice C. and Thelma Pierce Gardner. Bruce was a graduate of Lakeland High School and Johnson Technical School for welding. He was employed for 35 combined years with the D. & H. Railroad and Canadian Pacific Railroad.

Bruce attended the Finch hill Baptist Church and was very active most of his life including skating, hunting, fishing, gardening and a little baking. He worked hard to support his children and grandchildren.  He especially enjoyed giving cookies to the family dogs and leaving snacks for his “pet crows.”

Bruce is also survived by a son, Jesse Gardner, Carbondale, a daughter, Antoinette and husband Jeffy Thomas, Philadelphia, three grandchildren, Brandi, Jesse and Eric, a sister in law, Christine Gardner and  nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Gardner and his step-father, George Keen.

The funeral will be Saturday with a service at 10:00 AM in the Oliver Shifler & Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 62 N. Main St., Carbondale by Pastor John May, Finch Hill Baptist Church.  Masks are required. Interment will be in Sandy Banks Cemetery, Greenfield Township.  Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 PM.
