Carol Ann Alvaro, 70, of Carbondale died peacefully Monday surrounded by her family at the home of her son Stephen and daughter-in-law Andrea, who was her caregiver.  She was the wife of Russell L. Alvaro, the couple had been married for 49 years.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter to the late Joseph and Myrtle Treat Kopoch.  She graduated from Ben Franklin High School in 1968 and was employed for 9 years with PNC Bank before becoming a home maker for her husband and two sons.

She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church in Carbondale.  Carol’s favorite thing to do was spend time with her family and friends, but she also enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, and completing puzzles.  She was well known for her warm and caring personality, but also, her love for animals.  Throughout her life, she had many different pets and had great stories about each and every one.  She always loved to talk about them or even wild animals.

She is survived by her husband Russell  L. Alvaro, Carbondale, her son Stephen Alvaro and wife Andrea, Forty Fort, her son Brian Alvaro and girlfriend Karen Gallagher, Carbondale Twp., and her two grandsons Alex and Gavin, a sister-in-law, Ann Bowman, Endicott, NY and a nephew and niece.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Bowman.

The family would like to thank the staff of Allied Home Hospice for their excellent care.

There will be a private visitation and funeral services in the Oliver Shifler-Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., Carbondale.  Spring interment will be in Willow View Cemetery, Clifford.
