Carol R. Malinowski, 73, of Eynon died Monday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.

Born in Eynon, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Josephine Urbanowicz Malinowski. She was a 1962 graduate of Archbald High School and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Carbondale.

Carol was a registered nurse and Director of Nursing for a total of 48 years at Mercy Hospital and  then Regional Hospital, Scranton. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s of Czestochowa Church/ Christ the King Parish, Eynon.

Carol enjoyed traveling with family and friends and was a chocoholic. She was a loving and devoted caretaker to her family. Carol was an honorary “grandma” to her great  niece Josie whom she adored.

She is survived by her nephew and godson, Robert H. Malinowski, Columbia, MD, a niece, Laura Malinowski and husband Donald Wallace, Silver Spring, MD, a sister in law, Elizabeth F. Malinowski, Olney, MD and a great niece, Josie, and many beloved cousins.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Rev. Hilary L. and Alfred J. Malinowski.

The funeral mass will be Friday at 10:00 AM in St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, 417 Main St., Eynon. Interment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 7 Pm at the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc. 621 Main St., Simpson and Friday at the church from 9:15 AM- 9:45 AM. Everyone is asked to proceed directly to church.
