Obituaries » Catherine (Orinick) Kowalako January 19, 1935 - December 9, 2025 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Catherine Kowalako, 90, of Hazel Township and formerly of Simpson died Tuesday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazelton. She was the widow of Stephen Kowalako, who died in 1994. Born in Simpson, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Egnotovich Orinick. Catherine was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson and retired from Thompson Consumer Electronics. She was a member of St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church, Simpson. Catherine is survived by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Andrew Orinick and two sisters, Martha Woytowich and Irene Borick. The funeral will be Tuesday with a requiem Service at 10:00 AM in St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church, 33 Midland St., Simpson by the V. Rev. Archpriest David J. Hritcko. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery, Simpson. Family and friends may visit at the church Tuesday from 9 AM until service time.
