Daniel P. Hodorawis, 37, of Carbondale died Monday at home.

Born in Carbondale, he was the son of Peggy Hodorawis Mancuso and David Mancuso. Dan was a graduate of Carbondale Area High School and received his bachelor’s degree in History from Penn State University (main).

Never giving up Dan fought a long and courageous fight. The pain and suffering has ended and he is finally at peace free from his earthly burdens.

He was an avid Penn State Fan and alumnus, a devoted Pearl Jam follower and an active participant of the national democratic committee. Dan’s biggest fan, who knew his every need was his constant companion and appropriately named dog, Faithfull who is now lost without him.

A special thank you and appreciation to his devoted nurse Sue, Maria Surace Davis and the staff of Home Healthcare Professionals and Hospice for going above and beyond to meet Dan’s needs. Also everyone who stood by Dan during the journey of both good and difficult times, we thank you.

In addition to his parents he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Mary Mancuso, Carbondale, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Renie and Frank “Jr” Hodorawis and his paternal grandfather, Santo “Lefty” Mancuso.

Per Dan’s wishes a private memorial service will be held at a future date.
