Scotchlas, of Simpson died Saturday afternoon at Regional Hospital of Scranton, one month short of her 90th birthday. Her husband of 71 years is Michael F. Scotchlas. Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Pollits Carito. She attended Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale. Delores was employed for many years in the local garment manufacturing industry. She was a member of St. Michael’s Church/ St. Rose Parish. Throughout the years Delores was a Girl Scout Leader and had memberships in the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Fell Township Golden Age Seniors. She had a love for sewing and knitting and was proud of her Italian heritage. Her happiest time was spending summers at Lake Alden with her grandchildren and then their children. She enjoyed attending all of their activities. Delores was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed. Her family would like to thank her caregiver and niece, Charlene Brieden and her son Francis for their care and support in helping Delores. She is survived by her three children, Laura Howard and husband Thomas, Rehoboth Beach, DE, Michele Tarchak and husband Frank, Mayfield and Michael Scotchlas, San Diego, CA, four grandchildren, Erin Howard and husband Brian Towers, Sean Howard, Jessica Lester and husband Jeffrey and Nicole Tarchak, six great grandchildren, Laurali, Brian, Abby, Blaise, Kinsey and Norah, a sister, Joan Murzynsky, nieces and nephews. Delores was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph, a brother, Frank Carito, four sisters, Josephine Carito, Antoinette Klingensmith, Mary Mikucki and Margaret Emmett. The funeral will be Friday from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Entombment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM.
