Dorothy A. Van Nort, 80, of Carbondale died peacefully on Tuesday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton.  She was the widow of Joseph J. Van Nort.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Rose Gorel Lutchko. Dorothy was educated in Fell Township Schools and was a homemaker.

Dorothy was an exceptionally dedicated and loving mother and grandmother, ALWAYS putting the needs of her children and grandchildren above her own.

The family would like to thank the following people who have helped in her care, Dr. Ferdinand Manahan and staff, Dr. Matthew Haley, Michele Carson,  Allied Services Rehab staff, Lackawanna County Area on Aging and their many aids.

Dorothy is survived by her three sons, Dr. Joseph Van Nort and wife Elizabeth, Clearwater Beach, Fl, Dr. James Van Nort and wife Dr. Abby Gordon, Louisville, KY, Robert Van Nort, Carbondale, six grandchildren, Ashley, Joseph D.,Caroline, Jasentha, Joshua and Warren Van Nort and a great grandson, Colton, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Adam Lutchko and a sister, Dolores Lutchko.

The funeral will be Monday, July 22nd from the Joseph W. Scotchlas funeral Home, Inc. 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, St. Rose Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale.  Interment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.

Family and friends may visit on Sunday from 6 to 8 PM.
