Dorothy E. Ogden, 93, a resident of Carbondale died Saturday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the widow of William F. Ogden Sr., who died in 2007.

Born in Herrick Center, the daughter of the late Henry and Ina M. Russell Corey, she was educated in Herrick Center and graduated from Forest City High School.

Dot was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale. She was active in the Women’s Association and the Tuesday sewing group, in which she made many close friends. She was a quiet, patient, kind and never said a bad word about anyone. She never missed an opportunity to capture a family moment on Polaroid. Dorothy was an expert at crocheting and made countless gifts for family and friends. She was an avid New York Yankee fan who hardly ever missed watching a game on TV. She also loved feeding the birds, planting flowers and making treats for the holidays .She especially loved the family vacations in Canada and touring the country with Bill her husband of 64 years. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Shepherd and husband Jack, Sharon, S.C., Sandra Penzone and husband Robert, Carbondale, a son, William F. Ogden Jr. and wife Elyse, Dunmore; a sister Marjorie Wildenberg, Union Dale, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Linda and Marlyn, brothers, Leon and Orson Corey, and sisters Emma Petrus and Evelyn Waters.

The funeral will be Tuesday with services at 1:00 Pm in the Oliver Shifler & Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc. 62 N. Main St., Carbondale by Rev. Wayne Wolfe, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church.  Spring interment in Clinton Center Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 11 Am until 1 Pm.
