Dorothy R. Salley, 98, formerly of Simpson went to join the Lord and her Heavenly family on Thursday, November 12th.  A resident of Creekside Health & Rehab Center, Carbondale . She was born in Barnesboro, North Cambria, PA, the daughter of the late Julia Sedlock Salley and Stephen Salley. Dorothy was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson Class of 1935. After graduation she went to work as a cook and baker at the Arcade Restaurant. True to Dorothy’s nature to better herself she attended night classes at Lackawanna Business School.  With her business education, Dorothy went on to become the head bookkeeper at the Big Chief Markets from which she retired.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bekele and all the nurses, aides and everyone at Creekside who assisted her. Also a special thanks to Sister Jane, Sister Mary Magdalen and Father Merek Wasiliweski.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Frances Salley, Carbondale, nieces Dolores Gillott and Ann Williams, Carbondale, nephews Andrew Medina, Clarks Summit, Stephen Salley, Waymart, Thomas Salley, Baltimore, MD, Ed Salley, Boston, MA and several great nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Pecko, Malvina Zedlewski , Irene Medina; brothers, Stephen, Bernard and Anthony Salley, nephews Edwin Zedlewski, Joseph Pecko and John Salley.

The funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Simpson. The family will receive friends at church from 9:00 Am until 9:30.
