Stungis, 85, of Simpson died on Wednesday at the Carbondale Nursing Home. His wife is the former Lillian Mikulak. The couple had been married for over 20 years. Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Edmund and Kathryn Tarchack Stungis. Ed was a graduate of Morris Hills Regional High School, New Jersey. He served in the Navy during the Viet Nam War. He later received an Associate’s Degree in Science from County College of Morris, NJ. Edmund was employed as a police officer in Rockaway Borough New Jersey for 26 years. He retired in 1995 with the rank of Sergeant. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two step daughters: Joanna( Michael) Grizzanti and Linda Sudlesky, two step grandchildren, Taryn Tolerico and Bayley Grizzanti, two nieces, Linda ( Charlie) Silvestri, Maryann ( Tony) Davit, two great nieces and many cousins. Edmund was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Bahnatka and a nephew, Michael. At his request, Ed will be cremated and buried in New Jersey at a later date. Arrangements are by the Joseph W.
