Evelyn Kucharski, 87, of Whites Crossing, Carbondale died Saturday at home. She was the wife of Chester J. Kucharski.   Her first husband, Frank Tarchak died in 1979.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Anthony & Julia Lovito Sirianni. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale.  Evelyn had retired from Waymart Knit Ware.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Church, Simpson, St. Rose Parish. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, baking and crocheting and trips to the casinos. Her family was most important to her and she cherished time with her children and grandchildren and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Tamarat Bekele, Paragon Home Health Service, Compassionate Care Hospice and daughter-in-law, Judy Tarchak for their care of Evelyn.

Evelyn is survived by six children, Thomas Tarchak and wife Judy, Whites Crossing, Frank Tarchak and wife Michele,  Mayfield, Ann and husband Robert  Black, Lake Ariel,   Richard Tarchak, Crystal Lake, Theresa Salansky, Lennoxville, John Kucharski and wife Ann, Mayfield, eleven grandchildren, Matthew, Jessica, Nicole, Robert, Denise, Richard, Nathanial, Maressa, Jill, Justin and Angela, nine great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Tarchak and four siblings, Carmine & Anthony Sirianni, Mary Shoemaker and Phyllis Nixon.

The funeral will be Tuesday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson, to be celebrated by her nephew, The Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera, D.D., Bishop of Scranton. Interment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 P.M.

In remembrance of Evelyn those who are able are asked to donate blood. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose of Lima Parish, 6 North Church St., Carbondale, PA 18407
