Frances Patricia Striefsky, age 81, Forest City, died Wednesday,  at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, after a brief illness.  Her husband, Ambrose Striefsky passed away in 1996.

 

Born December 31, 1933 in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry & Frances Pickering Brown.  She was a member of St. Michael’s Church/ St. Rose Parish. She worked in the Catskill Mountains early in her career. Later in life she was employed by Allied Services where she worked for 17 years, caring for her clients as if they were a part of her own family.

 

She was active with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and served as its president for many years.  She was a Red Hatter and a member and past president of the Fell Township Senior Citizens.    Pat was always known for putting others before herself.  The pride and joy of her life was her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time baking cookies with each of her grandchildren.

 

The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Forest City Area Emergency Services, Forest City Nursing Home and Wayne Memorial Hospital and Hospice for providing excellent medical support.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Nagle and husband Steve, Falls Church, VA;  three sons, Patrick and wife Maryann, Forest City;  Michael and wife Rose, Jermyn; and Brian and wife Patricia, Browndale;  seven grandchildren, Craig, Sarah, Michael, Mark, Brandon and Zachary Striefsky and Steven Nagle;  several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Michaels;  niece Monica Michaels and nephew Leon Striefsky.

 

The funeral will be Monday, July 6 from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, 621 Main Street, Simpson, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson.  Interment St. Michael’s Cemetery, Simpson. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 PM. Fell Township Seniors will meet at 4:30 PM.
