Gloria Ann Widzon, 80, of Forest City died Monday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Pocono surrounded by her family after a brief illness.  She was the wife of William J. Widzon, the couple had been married for 55 years.

Born In Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Chelik Barna.  She was a graduate of Mt. View High School, Kingsley where she held the typing record for ten years.

Gloria retired after 28 years from Gentex Optical, Simpson.  She was a proud member of the Polka Jets for many years. Gloria was a member of St. John’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Mayfield.

Gloria and Bill liked to travel and she enjoyed sitting outdoors looking at her beautiful flowers and lawn decorations.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. She was a loving wife and proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono for the wonderful and compassionate care she received during her short stay.

Gloria is survived by her two children, Pamela Nolan and husband Mark, Archbald, Brian Widzon and wife Holly, Greenfield Township, a sister, Darlene Sweeney and husband Michael, Clifford, two grandchildren, Brian Widzon Jr. and Gregory  Widzon and two great grandchildren, Landon and Schyler Widzon, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Oprishko and a brother, Ronald Barna.

The funeral will be Friday with a Requiem Service at 9:30 AM in St. John’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 706 Hill St., Mayfield by the V. Rev. Archpriest John Sorochka. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Mayfield.  Family and friends may visit on Thursday at the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc. 621 Main St., Simpson from 5 to 8 PM with Parastas at 6:00 PM.  There will also be a visitation at the church on Friday from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
