James E. Williamson, 82, of Whites Crossing, Carbondale Township died at home surrounded by his family. His wife, the former Catherine Surace died in 2021.

Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late James and Tillie Lewis Williamson. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and served in the Navy.   Jim retired after 39 years of service as plant manager for Hendrick Manufacturing co., Carbondale.

Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan.  He also served as Chaplin of American Legion Post # 221, Carbondale.  Pop, as he was known to his family, greatest joy was his Sunday visits from his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the all the staff of Personal Home Health & Hospice for their exceptional care of Jim.

He is survived by a daughter, Brenda Matechak and husband, Daniel Jr., Jermyn, a son, Gary McDonough and wife, Anita, Carbondale, a brother, David Williamson and wife Genie, Warminister, a sister, Janice Wilson and husband, Robert, Honesdale, a Sister in law, Maureen Williamson, Scranton, five grandchildren, Daniel Matechak III and companion Annie, James Matechak and companion Lauren, Brittany Matechak and fiancée Mike Osif, Gary McDonough Jr. and wife Lauren, Angelica Borosky and husband Matt,  nine great grandchildren, Hailey and Miley Matechak, Daniel Matechak IV, Cameron McDonough, Riley Brennan, Isla McDonough, Kierra, Aubrey and Brenna Borosky, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis.

The funeral will be Saturday with services at 11:00 AM in the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc. 621 Main St., Simpson by Pastor Sal Maiorana.  Interment will military honors will be in Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart.  Family and friends may visit on Friday from 5 – 7 PM.
