Jean D. Yamialkowski, 78, of Carbondale died Sunday at home.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Cecelia Yanchek Yamialkowski. Jean was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and had been employed by Gentex Manufacturing, Simpson for almost 59 years.

Jean was a devoted catholic and served as a lector, C.C.D. teacher, choir member and Eucharistic minister. With faith, she attended Holy Trinity Church, then the merger into St. Michael’s Church and now Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale. Every summer she helped operate the parish block parties and was always available to lend a hand to many organizations.

Crocheting baby blankets for the next generation of cousins and listening to polka’s were some of Jean’s favorite hobbies She also baked and decorated many beautiful wedding and birthday cakes.

She is preceded in death by her twin sister, Joan in 2023 and a brother, Stanley Jr.

The funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale.  Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Simpson.

Family and friends may visit at the church on Thursday from  9:00 AM. to 10:00 AM.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
