John R. “Bob” Fry, 82, of Carbondale died Tuesday evening at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. He and his wife, Irene Swinarski Fry had just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary  on February 7th.

Born in Carbondale on January 20th, 1933, he was the son of the late John L. & Beatrice Hennan Fry. Bob attended grammar and high school in Newark, NJ. After high school, Bob joined the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War.   Bob and his family re-located to Carbondale, where he worked at many local companies, including: Hendrick Manufacturing Co., Carbondale, P.J.’s Home Center, Peckville, Panorama Golf Course, Clifford Township and the Cottage Hose Co., Carbondale.

Bob was a devout member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, where he could be found, every day, at 7 AM, for the past 15 years. Bob enjoyed golfing, reading, and spending time with his family who surrounded him with love as he passed away. He especially enjoyed every moment spent with his great grand-daughter, playing dress up and anxiously awaited his weekly telephone call from Palm Harbor, Florida, where he would discuss the past weeks on goings with his grandson.

He is also survived by three sons, Clint, Palm Harbor, Fl.; Michael and wife Donna, Simpson and Kevin, Waymart.  A grand-daughter Nicole, Forest City, grandsons, Quinn, Palm Harbor, Fl, Duane Bean & Larry Peruzzi both of Manassas, VA. and a great granddaughter Sadie Brennan, Forest City, who was the light of his life.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Richard and a brother James Irvin Fry.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale.  Interment at a later date in Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart.  Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
