I not only graduated with Laura, but knew her from both my parish and home town. She was never without a smile and good cheer. Though we hadn't seen each other in quite a few years, she was always a good conversation piece, and I was always glad to speak to her. The Class of 1985 will miss you! My condolences to Laura's family. She will be remembered.

Sophie and Frank, Just learned about Laura. I'm so sorry for your troubles. I remember her as a little girl when you lived on Main Street in Simpson and she used to play with our niece Lana. Please accept our condolences. Rich and Maeve Rupp

Dear Sophie and family, I am so sorry to hear of Laura’s passing. I have many fond memories of Girl Scounts and our friendship from childhood. I hope your memories bring you some comfort at this time.

Laura was and always will be “Ozzie” to me. We attended the University of Maine at Machias together, where we grew to be close friends and fraternity/sorority Brother and Sister. She was quick with her wit and with a smile for everyone on campus, making friends across a wide variety of social circles. She and I kept in touch over the years, sharing a love of Boston Baseball and a zest for life. Even if we didn’t talk very much as our lives got busier, we connected via text, on the phone and on social media. I knew that she had been battling this awful disease called cancer, but she didn’t like to dwell on it, so we didn’t. She was a sharp as a pistol, researching everything she could to fight it off the best ways she could with her medical team! We communicated just after Christmas and I learned about arterial blood clots and hospitalization via text. I had just had surgery to remove a plate holding my collarbone together after a break this past summer, so I was a little out of it. I meant to call her back, but life is so busy... I wish I had made that call. My heart is so heavy now-for everyone close to her and all the people she touched in her work. Rest In Peace my friend; the pain is over for you, even as it begins for so many others.

Laura’s family: I graduated high school with Laura. We have not seen each other in years but I remember how her smile lit up a room. We bought the same dress to wear to our senior Christmas dance. I ended up exchanging mine. She was gorgeous in that pink sequined dress! Many fun times with her. Praying that her memories comfort you in this difficult time. Christine
