Lorraine Ann Delfino, 84, Carbondale passed away Friday at home surrounded by her devoted family. Her loving husband of 64 years, John A. Delfino, cared for her at home through her lengthy illness. Born in the Bush in Carbondale, and raised in Simpson, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Stungis Whitelavich. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lorraine was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson and Empire Beauty School, Scranton. She owned and operated her beauty shop on Froble Street in Simpson for over 50 years. A passionate cook and caregiver, her home on Cottage Street was Grand Central Station for family and friends and extended to summer weekends at the family’s cottage on Fifth Street at Spruce Lake.

Lorraine was an avid reader and gardener. Her primary pastime was cheering on her son, daughter and three grandsons’ many sports and activities. She loved to travel and always seemed to meet someone she knew from the Jersey Shore to Hawaii.

She was a member of St. Michael’s and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, now Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale.

In addition to her husband John, she is survived by son Jack Delfino Sr. and wife Patty, Greenfield Township; daughter Lisa and husband Mark Borosky, Coatesville; three grandsons, Jack Delfino, Jr., Carbondale; Cody Delfino and wife Amanda, Moscow; and Jason Borosky and fiancée Stephanie Toland, Long Beach, CA; two great-granddaughters Grace Rose and Ella Mae Delfino, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Tina Bennett, who was a wonderful and dedicated in-home caregiver for Lorraine for over 6 years. Special thanks to the Bennett family for their unselfish support. The family thanks Nurse Judy and Maria from HHCP Hospice; Theresa Micknick and Dr. Bekele.

Lorraine was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and William Whitelavich, Simpson.

The funeral will be Friday, April 10th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook Steet, Carbondale. Interment will be in the chapel at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Family and friends may visit at the church from 9:00 AM until mass time.
