Lynne M. Evans-Hernandez, 57, of Clifford Township passed away at home after an illness. She was the cherished wife of Apolinar Hernandez-Montalvo. The couple had been married for 27 years.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late David S. and Melba Dietz Evans. Lynne was a 1985 graduate of Carbondale Area High School. After high school she was employed in the family business, Dale’s & Dave’s Auto Supply, Carbondale.

Lynne had a special love for the Lord and used Bible study to help youth groups become enriched in this love. She actively attended both Clifford and Lenoxville United Methodist Churches. Lynne always tried to use her personal interactions to bring people to Christ.

Lynne was a lifetime member of the Carbondale First Presbyterian Church.  She also enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling internationally and spending time caring for her family. Lynne’s empathy and commitment to the well-being of others was remarkable, even as a child.  Others relied on and trusted her; people felt affirmed and at ease in her presence.

She is survived by three children to whom she was fiercely devoted, Nicole and spouse Leo, Ricardo, Efrain, and a granddaughter Milagros.  Also surviving her is a sister Diana Slick and husband Robert, a brother, Randy Evans and wife Linda, a mother in law, Feliciana Montalvo, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother Donald B. Evans and father in law, Juan Hernandez.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, May 1st at 6:00 PM in the Clifford United Methodist Church, 106 Main St., (Route 106), Clifford by Pastor Pat Hanley. Family and friends may visit at the church on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson is assisting the family. For condolences visit: www.scotchlasfuneralhome.com
