Maria Bianco, 60, of Union Dale, was called to the Lord on Thursday August 15, 2024 after a brave and courageous fight with several illnesses.

Born in Carbondale, Maria was the daughter of the late Robert and Carmella Gerchman of Simpson, PA. She attended Lackawanna College and was proud graduate of Marywood University where she studied social work. She was employed at several area daycares throughout her life including the Carbondale YMCA where the children loved their teacher Ms. Maria.

Maria had a passion for breeding and raising Golden Retrievers with her husband Stephen. They owned and operated Willowbrook Kennels for several years. She loved gardening, crocheting, going to church, and caring for others, but nothing compares to the outpouring of love she endlessly provided to her husband Stephen of 33 years and her 3 blessed children Stephanie, Brianne, and Angela.

Maria was the most selfless, caring, genuine, empathetic woman. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met throughout her life. She was a rare gem that shined through any storm sent her way.

Surviving is her husband, Stephen Bianco Jr., Union Dale; her oldest daughter Stephanie Bednash and husband Matthew, Forest City; daughter Brianne Bianco, Scranton; youngest daughter, Angela Bianco and partner Joseph Stumer II Bethlehem; brothers Eric Gerchman and wife Cathy, Dunmore; Mark Gerchman and wife Elizabeth, Old Forge; sister Diane Walsh and husband Tom, Jermyn; mother in-law Dolores Bianco, Scranton; sister in-laws Belinda Bianco, Scranton; Bernadette Wesley, Scranton; brother in-law Robert Richardson, Dalton; and several nephews and cousins.

A Blessing Service will be on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM in the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson.  Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 5 :00 PM to 7:00 PM.
