Mark D. Ruddy, 71 of Simpson passes away on Sunday, December 15th at the Carbondale Nursing Home with his family at his side after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. His wife of 46 years is the former Karen O’ Brien.

Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the Joseph and Anna Rogowski Ruddy. Mark was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson class of 1971. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by RCA/Thompson for 18 years and PA American Water Co. for 28 years.

He was a member of the former Holy Trinity Church, Simpson and an altar boy for 6 years. Mark was active in the community, serving as a Fell Township Supervisor for 6 years, a member of the Grattan Singer Hose Co, Simpson; where he served as a past treasurer and assistant fire chief.

Mark was a regular blood donor and was proud of the pin he received for his blood donations. He was a member of the Bucktail and Just One More hunting clubs and a social member of the Moxie Club, Carbondale and the Simpson V.F.W.

The family would like to thank the Carbondale Nursing Home for all the kindness they showed Mark during his stay. Especially,  the 400 hall staff and Erin and all the staff from Compassionate Healthcare.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mark James Ruddy, Avoca and Patrick Ruddy and wife Jamee, Carbondale, two grandchildren, Michael and Erin, who were the apple of his eye, and numerous cousins.

As per the family wishes, services will be private with a Blessing Service by the Rev. Seth D. Wasnock, pastor, Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Carbondale. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Forest.
