Mary Krenitsky, 96, of Simpson died Friday at home. She was the widow of Alex Krenitsky, who died in 1994.

Born in County Cork, Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Nora Courtney Whelton. Mary came to the United States as a young adult. She had been employed as a chamber maid for Kutcher’s Country Club, Monticello, NY.

Mary was a member of St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church, Simpson.  For many years, Mary was a caregiver for her disabled husband. Later, she enjoyed traveling with her son in the U.S. and Europe.

She is survived by her two children, Mary Ann Wiggins, with whom she resided and Alex Krenitsky, a grandson Robert Wiggins and wife Laura and a great daughter, Molly Wiggins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings, John, William, Peggy and Nancy.

The funeral will be Monday with services at 11:00 AM in the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson by the V. Rev. Archpriest David J. Hritcko. Interment will be in St. Basil’s Cemetery, Simpson.  Family and friends may visit on Monday from 10:00 AM until service time.
