Mary Lou Maholchic, 82, of Simpson died Thursday at the Forest City Nursing Center. She was the loving wife of James T. Maholchic. The couple had been married for 61 years.

Born in Simpson, she was the daughter of the late Charles & Helen Russian Kovalesky. She was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson and Chestnut Hill Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia. She worked as a registered nurse in many different capacities most recently at the New Jersey Veterans Home in Menlo Park, NJ.

Mary Lou was a member of St. Michael’s Church/ St Rose Parish. She enjoyed quilting and most importantly spending time with her family. She was happiest at her lake cottage at Lake Como, “My Happiness”, where she has been going since she was a child.

Mary Lou is survived by her five children: Kathy Papciak, Hillsborough, NJ; Ellen Baglien, Seattle, WA; David Maholchic, Newfoundland, NJ; Julie Lehoczky, Atlantic Highlands, NJ; Thomas Maholchic, Fords, NJ. She also has three cherished grandchildren: Paige Werner, Brett Baglien and Charlie Lehoczky and one great grandchild, Keegan Werner.  Mary Lou is also survived by her two sisters, Violet Maholchic and Charlotte Rogero.

The funeral will be Monday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 Am in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St. Simpson. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Simpson.  Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 8 pm.
