Michael F. Scotchlas, 95, of Simpson died Wednesday at the Carbondale Nursing Home. His wife, the former Delores Carito, died in 2022.

Born in Simpson, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Kalamajka Scotchlas.  He was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson.  Mike retired as a tool maker for Lockheed Martin, Archbald.

His Polish heritage was very important to him and he enjoyed making kielbasa with his family and gathering for Christmas Eve supper. Mike was also actively involved with his nephew, Joe and the Scotchlas Funeral Home, helping with maintenance, grounds and traffic.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Carbondale Nursing Home for their compassionate care of Mike.

He is survived by his children, Laura Howard and husband Thomas, Rehoboth Beach, DE., Michele Tarchak and husband Frank, Mayfield, and Michael Scotchlas, Crestline, CA., four grandchildren, Erin Howard and husband Brian Towers, Sean Howard, Jessica Lester and Nicole Tarchak, six great grandchildren, Laurali, Brian, Abby,  Blaise, Kinsey and Norah, several nieces and nephews.
