Obituaries » Michael Luczkovich August 17, 1926 - June 14, 2026 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Michael Luczkovich, 99, of Carbondale passed away on Sunday at the Aventura at Creekside Nursing Home, Carbondale. His wife, the former, Theresa Crogan died in 2017. Born in Simpson, he was the son of the late Joseph and Evelyn Kohan Luczkovich. He was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson and served in the Navy during the Korean War. Michael, later retired as maintenance supervisor for the Farview State Hospital, Waymart. He had been an active member of St. Basil’s Orthodox Church of America, Simpson. Michael is survived by his six children, Janette and husband Gary Wowk, Carbondale, Joanne and husband Ronald Schmidt, Scranton, June Smith, Philadelphia, Joyce Luczkovich and Michael McGuckin, Sandstone, VA., John Luczkovich and wife Mary, Carbondale, Jane Saltisak and Dr. Michael Gleeson, Archbald, eleven grandchildren, Nicholas, Charles, Jillian, Danielle, Jessica, John, Jennifer, Julie, Marjean, Mariah, and Matthew, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Julie Luczkovich and Jean Browning, a grandson, Michael Browning and siblings, John, Boris, Harry, Helen Marshall and Rose Luczkovich. The funeral will be Friday with a Requiem Service at 10:00 AM in St. Basil’s Orthodox Church of America, 9 Lord Ave., Simpson by the Rev. Archpriest David J. Hritcko. Interment will be in Valley View Memorial Park, Scott Township. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 AM until service time.
