Patrick J. Surace, 88, of Whites Crossing, Carbondale Township died Wednesday evening at home surrounded by his family.  His wife is the former Marion Dukarich. The couple would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on Christmas Eve.

Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Patrick J. and Catherine Latka Surace, Sr.

He was a member of the Richmondale Hunting Club and American Legion Post 221 along with being a long-standing parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Parish.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting but most of all spending time with his family, especially his precious grandchildren. Always had a smile on his face that became contagious with his comical disposition. He would never turn down a visit to his beloved garage saying if the door is open, stop in. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Cyndi Klikus and Jay Aileo, Simpson, Kathy Surace, Whites Crossing, Karen Monahan and husband Michael, Carbondale Twp, two grandchildren, Kim Cost and husband, Dominick, Summer Machiesky and husband, Jonathan, three great grandchildren, Dominick, Madison and Lucy.  A brother, Dennis Surace and Michele, a sister Delores Cox and Lenny, sisters-in-laws, Margaret and Carol Surace, many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dominic and Francis Surace and two sisters, Catherine Williamson, husband Jim and Marian Duffy, husband, Jack.

The funeral will be Wednesday, September 9^th  with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale.  Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Simpson.   Family and friends may visit on Wednesday from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson.www.scotchlasfuneralhome.com
