Paul F. Halstead, 83, of Clifford Township died Monday night surrounded by his family.
Our father was born May 3, 1931 at the family farm in Elkdale, PA, to the late Frank & Grace Rude Halstead. He graduated from Harford High School, class of 1950. One day a beautiful young girl, Charlotte Price, caught his eye and it wasn’t long and they wed. This year they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Together Paul and Charlotte raised eight children on that farm in Elkdale. The children learned what hard work was by watching their father get up before dawn, milk the cows, then gobble down a quick breakfast before running off to his second job driving four generations of school children to the Clifford Elementary and Mountain View School Districts on bus #11. This was the routine for over 40 years until his retirement. He earned the love and respect of not only his wife and children but hundreds of school children and their parents.
Paul and Charlotte watched as their little ones left the nest and started families of their own. As the love grew so did the family. Paul’s legacy is a large, loving family of 8 children and their families. This includes 27 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren,7 step great-grandchildren and even more extended family.
Paul is survived by his wife Charlotte, their children Gerald and wife Dorothy, Sharon and husband John Bixby,Sr., Wayne, Steve, Pauline and husband Paul Fallon, Denis and wife Jane, Eileen and husband Blake Tyson, and Scott, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. A sister Marylyn and husband Donald Peltz and their children and families, Penny and husband Jeff Treadwell and William and wife Renee.
Paul was preceded in death by a brother Melvin, a sister Gertrude, a son Kenneth and a granddaughter Dawn Marie.
We would love for Paul’s family and friends to join us in a celebration of his life at the Lenoxville Community Hall on Saturday, September 27th at 10:00 AM with services by Pastor William Rushik.
