Paul J. Petrilak, 87 of Browndale, died Monday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. His wife, the former, Mary Ann Dzwonchyk died in 2009. His loving companion is Pauline Nadzak.

Born in Simpson, he was the son of the late Michael and Arlene King Petrilak. He attended Fell Township Schools and served in the Air Force as a telecommunications specialist. Paul retired as a corrections officer at Lackawanna County Prison.

Paul was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City, Tri County Sportsman’s Association, Simpson where he enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was known as the Pierogie  King of Forest City and helped deliver Meals on Wheels.

Paul is survived by his daughter, Judy Guarino and husband Vince, Carbondale, a son, Eugene Petrilak, York, a brother, Joseph Petrilak, Forest City, a sister, Eileen Aguiar and husband Mike, Simpson, a grandson, Ivar Iversen and wife Stephanie, a granddaughter, Clarissa Guarino and companion Rob, and a great granddaughter, Addilyn Timms,  nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Petrilak and a brother, Michael.

The funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Ascension Parish, St. Joseph’s Church, 739 Delaware St., Forest City.  Interment with military honors will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Simpson. Family and friends may visit at the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson on Friday from 5 to 8 PM.
