Peter Baysa, Jr., 86, of Browndale died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart.  His wife of 63 years is the former Dorothy Tarchuck.

Born in Simpson, he was the son of the late Peter and Dora (Nosal) Baysa, Sr. He was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson.  Peter and Dorothy spent most of their working years in New Jersey where he was employed by Automatic Switch, Florham Park, as a production supervisor.

Peter was also a special policeman for 35 years in Rockaway Borough, New Jersey and a member and former chief of the Rockaway Borough Fire Department for 32 years. He was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City.

He is also survived by two daughters, Diane Mayenzet and companion Bob, Rockaway, NJ, Barbara and husband Jeff Scott, Charlotte, N.C., a daughter-in-law, Amy Baysa, South Carolina, a grandson, Kevin Rey and wife Jessica and two great grandchildren, Mason and Carter.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Baysa, 2011, a son-in-law, John Mayenzet,2015, four sisters, Julia Price, Mary Onufrak, infant Mary and Luba Baysa and a brother, Walter Baysa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 am in Ascension Parish, St Joseph’s Church, 741 Delaware St., Forest City by the Rev. Stephen Krawontka.  Friends may call at the church from 9 am until mass time.  Masks will be required and social distancing rules followed.
