Roberta “Honey” Para Sefchick, of Prompton passed away Friday peacefully in her sleep. Her loving husband, Joseph J. Sefchick, Sr., died in 2007.

Born and raised in Whites Crossing, PA. she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maryann Shedlock Para. Graduate of Saint Rose High School, Carbondale,  and received degrees in Labor and Delivery and Neonatal and Pediatric nursing at Our Lady of Victory School of Nursing. She retired after working over 30 years at Wayne Memorial Hospital in the Newborn Nursery and Labor and delivery.

In life Roberta was a child of God. She was a member of the Society of the Blessed Mother and parishioner of St John the Evangelist in Honesdale.

She was involved in many youth leader activities including she was a CCD teacher at St. Mary’s Church in Waymart, 4H Leader and Cub Scouts Leader. She created a youth group called the” Knit Knots” to teach needlework and handcrafts to young people.

She loved to crochet, knit, and quilt and was an avid wildlife, animal and bird lover.

She found much love in gardening in her Mother Mary flower gardens and loving her Cats Bobby and Max. Roberta will be dearly missed as she made a lasting impression on every life she touched.

Loving Mother of 4, and 2 heavenly Children, a Son Joseph Sefchick of Gettysburg, and wife, Kathleen and grandsons, Jack and Ryan. 3 daughters, Maria Hughes and Husband Jeffrey of Harrisburg, PA and Grandsons, Joshua and wife Kaitlin; Matthew and Fiancée Alexis, Granddaughters  Melissa and Jessica and husband Kenneth  and Great Grandchildren  Jocelynn, Olivia, and Kenneth Jeffrey,  a Daughter: Kathleen Dixon and husband, Cedric , of Winslow, NJ a Daughter: Eileen and husband David Bonaccorso, of Toms River, NJ, Roberta is survived by a sister Barbara Flederbach and husband William, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and John Para and a sister Rosemarie Pryzybyski.

The funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale. Those attending the mass are asked to proceed directly to church. Interment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township.
