Cemetery Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Ronald Bernard Tezzano, 70, of Fell Township died Friday at home. His wife is the former Donna M. Gammaitoni. Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Joseph and Teresa Fotia Tezzano. Ron was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale, class of 1972. He graduated from Lackawanna College with a degree in Criminal Justice and Southern Columbia University with a degree in Occupational, Health & Safety. He was most recently employed by Lord & Taylor, BP Wind and Mohawk Valley Materials. Ron had a long career in emergency services in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Cottage Ambulance Corps, Carbondale, Westside Fire Department of the Carbondale Fire Department, where he served as city chief from 1998-2000. As part of the fire service, he developed a training program, “Responding to Carbon Monoxide alarms”. He was one of the first Lackawanna County paramedics, number 103, graduating class of 1975, Community Medical Center, Scranton. A certification he held for 50 years. Ron served as an EMT and rescue instructor throughout those years. Ron was also a part time officer of the Carbondale Police Department. He was a member of the Board of Directors of EMS of NEPA. An Alumnus of the National Ski Patrol training, he logged 25 years combined serving Montage Mountain and Elk Mountain. Ron is also survived by a step-son, Mario Savino and wife Marisa, a niece, Karen Tezzano-Howard and husband Michael, two great nephews, Michael and Matthew. He was preceded in death by two brothers, infant Jonathan, Joseph and wife, Ann. The funeral will be Friday, September 5th, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Mt. Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook St., Carbondale, to be celebrated by Monsignor John Sempa. Anyone planning to attend mass is asked to proceed to the church. Interment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Family and friends may visit on Thursday from 4-7 PM. at the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson.
