Obituaries » Rose Ewonishon Harris July 27, 1920 - September 20, 2015 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Rose Harris, 95, died Sunday at St. Martha’s Villa, Downingtown. She was the widow of William Harris who died in 1991. The couple had been married for 48 years at the time of his death. Born in Simpson, she was the daughter of the late Harry & Anna Ewonishon. She was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson. Rose & Bill owned and operated a service station on Main Street Simpson for many years. They were well known for their outstanding, friendly and cheerful service to their loyal customers. Rose was a member of St. Basil Russian Orthodox Church, Simpson; Fell Township Golden Age Seniors and the Forest City Coral Group. Rose was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff of the Forest City Nursing Center, Sunrise Senior Living at West Chester and St. Martha’s Villa for the loving and gentle care of Rose. She is survived by a daughter Claudia and husband Joseph Sladicka, Honesdale, four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, Melissa Sladicka Jones and husband Richard, Ashley, Alexander and Erica; Michele Purvis, M.D., Katilyn, Kyle; Joseph Sladicka and wife Denise, Olivia, Charlotte and Joseph; Sean Sladicka and wife Jennifer, Sydney; a daughter in law, Marlene Harris, Forest City, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren, William Harris III, Lindsey and husband Richard Gorel, Karina, Serafina and Jonah; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son William Harris II, a granddaughter Kristen Harris, a brother Metro Ewonishon, five sisters, Marie Case, Julia Marchak, Kathryn & Anna Danchak and Stella Sopchak. The funeral will be Thursday from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with a Requiem Service at 10:00 Am in St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church, 33 Midland St, Simpson by the Very Rev. Mitred Archpriest David J. Hritcko. Interment will be in St. Tikhon’s Cemetery, South Canaan. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 Pm. Parastas at 7:30 Pm. In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Basil’s R.O.
