Scott Anthony  Lesak, 33, of Waymart died unexpectedly on Tuesday.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of Richard & Regina (Booths) Lesak of Waymart. Scott attended Western Wayne Schools and later graduated from Scranton Preparatory High School in 2001. He completed his undergraduate studies from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY in 2005; where he commissioned in the Army and served eight years.

After being commissioned in the Army on May 28, 2005, Scott held several commanding officer and executive positions. He also served over 30 months overseas in Iraq and Kuwait throughout his eight years of military service.

In his younger years, Scott was a member of the State Championship Swimming Team at Prep attended St. Mary’s Church, Waymart where he was an altar server. He frequently participated in charitable running events, to include a run for Parkinson’s. He recently returned to Waymart after living in Arizona.

Scott is survived by his son, Adam Scott Lesak, Phoenix, AZ, four siblings and their spouses, David Lesak, Scranton, Lynda Lesak, Honesdale, Mary Beth and husband Clayton Pauze, Seaford, DE, Mark Lesak and wife Lisa, Grovetown, GA, nieces , nephews, aunts and uncles.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 242 Carbondale Rd., Waymart by the Rev. Joseph S. Sitko, Pastor.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 PM.
