Cemetery Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Shirley A. Lewis, 69, of Simpson died Friday at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Ann Marie Salansky Berish. Shirley was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson and was certified as a veterinary assistant by the North American Correspondent School. She had been employed for 23 years as a clerk at the U.S. Postal Service, Scranton. Shirley loved her dogs and was the caretaker of her parents until their passing. She is survived by two brothers and their wives, Fred T. Berish and Gail, Wilmore, KY and Thomas Berish and Linda, Stafford, VA, nieces and nephews and a close friend Lorraine McGurrin, Simpson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teri Lewis. The funeral will be Thursday from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc. 621 Main St., Simpson with the Office of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. John’s the Baptist Byzantine Church, Susquehanna St., Forest City by Monsignor John T. Sekellick. Interment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM. Parastas at 7PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Township, PA 18411.
