Cemetery Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Stanley E. Gorel, 63, of Simpson died Tuesday at the VNA Hospice Unit of Geisinger CMC, Scranton. His wife is the former Joanne Sliva. The couple had celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on Friday. Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Stanley E. & Malvina Shillings Gorel, Jr. He attended Waymart High School and St. Michael’s Church, Simpson. Stanley had been employed by Gentex Corp., Simpson prior to his illness. He is also survived by two sons, Jason, Simpson, Jonathan and wife Kelly, Carbondale, a brother Andrew Gorel, Honesdale, four sisters, Adele Parnell, Carbondale, Sophie Dunkle and Mary Hardler both of Shippensburg, and Ann Gorel, Las Vegas, NV, a granddaughter Ashley, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Kathryn Booths. The funeral will be Friday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 Am in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Interment will be in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Friends may call Thursday 5 to 8 PM.
