Stephen “Tippy” Pasterchik, 90, of Forest City and a former Monticello, NY resident died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale.  His wife, the former Theresa Tomsykoski died in 1975. His longtime companion, Katherine Hussey died in 2009.

Born in Simpson, he was the son of the late Metro and Irene Kulick Pasterchik.  Tippy was a 1942 graduate of Fell High School, Simpson and was an Army veteran and Bronze Star recipient.  He retired as a plumber from UA Local Union 373 Plumbers and Steamfitters in New York and had been a union member for 60 years.

He was a member of S.S. Peter & Paul Greek Catholic Church and the Grattan Singer Hose Co., both of Simpson, Williamsport Moose Lodge and the VFW.  He was a former little league coach and an avid camper who was a founding member of the Catskill Wagonmasters.

Tippy was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who made everyone who came in contact with him a better person and leaves behind a lasting legacy.

Tippy is survived by a son, Kevin Pasterchik and wife Barbara, Binghamton, NY; two grandchildren, Sara and Stephen, a brother, Richard and a sister, Tessie Dewitt, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Michael and three sisters, Sophie Prusienski, Irene P. Siscoe and Rose.

The family would like to thank the Forest City Personal Care, Forest City Nursing Home and Wayne Memorial Hospital for the kind and compassionate care he received.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc.  621 Main St., Simpson with Divine Liturgy at 10:30 AM in S.S. Peter & Paul Greek Catholic Church, Rittenhouse St., Simpson by the Rev. Myron Myronyuk.  Interment with military honors in the parish cemetery.  Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 10 AM.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the in S.S. Peter & Paul Greek Catholic Church Roof Improvement Fund, PO Box 124, Carbondale, Pa 18407.
