Verna I Mittan
Born in Mehoopany, she was the daughter of the late Andrew & Mabel Akens Johnson. She was a homemaker in the truest sense, always caring for her family and taking time for her children and grandchildren. Verna was a member of the Peckville Assembly of God Church and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years, at the Carbondale Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by three children, Leon Mittan and wife Connie, Dalton; Edwin Mittan and wife Susan, Oviedo, FL; and Sharon Mittan, Carbondale; five grandchildren , Trasa, Shelley, Brandon, Renee and Austin, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Verna was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Charles and Orvind, six sisters, Eva, Lucy, Nellie, Elsie, Mae & Jennie.
A visitation will be held at the Peckville Assembly of God, 3364 Scranton Carbondale Highway, Blakely, on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00 Pm with a Memorial Service at 2:00 Pm. Interment will be in Squires Cemetery, Brooklyn.
Memorial contributions may be made to Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA, 746 Jefferson Ave., Scranton.
