Obituaries » Yvonne (McKarm) Pettinato February 18, 1932 - April 22, 2017 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Yvonne Pettinato, 85, of Carbondale died Saturday night at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. She was the wife of James F. Pettinato. The couple had celebrated their 53 wedding anniversary in 2016. Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Samuel & Wadad McKarm. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and the Lackawanna County Vocational Technical School Nurse’s Aid Program. Yvonne and her husband Jack owned and operated Pettinato’s Restaurant Carbondale until the 1970’s when she became a Central Supply Tech for St Joseph’s Hospital and retired from Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale, as an Emergency Room Nurse’s Aid. Yvonne obtained her Emergency Medical Technician certification and was an active volunteer with the Cottage Hose Ambulance Corps until 5 years ago. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Parish, Carbondale. Yvonne enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking. She provided many holiday meals for members of the volunteer ambulance crews. She was also a secondary instructor for many local Emergency Service Programs. Yvonne is also survived by a son, James J. Pettinato and wife Janice, Carbondale, two grandsons, Luke Pettinato and Christopher Gaylets, a sister, Jean Waspi, sisters in law, Gloria McKarm, Marie Greto, Ann Marie Pettinato and sister and brother in law, Hilda and Anthony Pettinato, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angela Pettinato, two brothers, Joseph and Samuel McKarm Jr, brothers in law, Dr. Salvatore Pettinato, Anthony Greto and brother and sister in law, Frank and Angela Manucso and a nephew Anthony Pettinato. The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 15 Fallbrook St., Carbondale to be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Ruttle, C.P. Interment will be in Willow View Cemetery, Clifford. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the church. Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers are encouraged to Cottage Hose Ambulance, P.O.
