Eugene John Emmons, 89, of Carbondale died Monday at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. His wife, the former Ruth Swingle died in 2007.
Born on July 16, 1925 in Herrick Center, he was the son of the late John H. and Ann Maslar Emmons. He was a 1943 graduate of Herrick Township High School. He served for three years in the Army during W.W.II as a medical/surgical technican and received several medals for his honorable service. Eugene was later employed by Scotch Motors, Carbondale.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to play his guitar.
He is survived by a son Steven and wife Arvis, Gainesville, GA; three sisters, Eunice and husband Joseph Lozinak, Forest City; Lorraine Thompson, Binghamton, NY and Martha and husband Louis Kotar, Vandling, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers George & William and a sister Arlene Rasmussen.
A graveside service will be conducted with military services Saturday at 10:30 AM in Myers Cemetery, Herrick Center. Arrangements by the Oliver Shifler & Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc; Carbondale
